NWFP Certification
The general recommendation of FAQ for NWFP:
Moisture content of the NWFP should not be more than 12%.
Proper maturity and ripeness of the product concerned should be ascertained.
Standard color, taste and odor of the product should be maintained.
Foreign material should not be more than 3% in the product and
The product should be free from insect and fungal attack.

The
group considered the importance of special criteria of FAQ for each NWFP. The
group recommended specific criteria for specific NWFP products. for example:
Harra/Baheda
(Terminalia chebula/Terminalia bellerica)
Deseeding is importance at the of time of plucking
For deseeded permissible limit – 3%
Harra – color – greenish yellow
Aonla
(Emblica officinalis)
Harvesting period
recommended November to February and it may be integrated in the socio-cultural
fabric of the rural communities by coinciding the initiation of plucking with
local festivals like Diwali/Aonla Navmi
For dry Aonla, steam
boiling is recommended for conserving ascorbic acid that may be lost by the
traditional boiling method.
Percentage of seeds in
the Kali should not exceed beyond 5%.
Recommended color is
Golden Brown.
Leafy
Material:
Multiple plucking system is recommended.
